Kalbi(marinated beef and pork)


This is one of my favorite Korean food.

marinated beef or pork
2 lbs. thin sliced short ribs
Marinade:1 cup Aloha shoyu regular soy sauce or chinese soy sauce
INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup pineapple juice/half or apples slice or pears
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup Korean malt syrup
  • 4 scalion, trimmed and minced
  • 4 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons packed ugar
  • 2 tablespoons soju
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh ground pepper
  • 3 pounds Korean-style (flanken cut) beef short ribs/pork ribs (cut 1/4 inch thick across the ribs)
  • tablespoon toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
PROCEDURE
Mix all marinade ingredients in a bowl, stirring until the brown sugar is dissolved.  Place ribs in pan and pour marinade mixture over them.  Marinate at least 4 hours and up to overnight.  Grill ribs over a charcoal fire or broil
