Indonesia Natural Disasters

Indonesia is in the news all the time because of some terrible incident.

No one can forget the criminal tsunami that killed about 230,000 people on December 26,2004. The waves were 30 meters high in places. Most of people did not have time to run away. They were taken out to sea by the giant waves. A huge earthquake in the Indian Ocean caused the tsunami, which killed people in 14 countries. Indonesia was one of the hardest hit countries, suffering about 160,000 deaths.
